How to Set Up Zoom Tasks Connection in OttoKit

Overview

Zoom Tasks is a task management feature within the Zoom platform that lets teams create, assign, and track tasks directly in Zoom. This guide walks you through creating the required Zoom OAuth app and connecting Zoom Tasks to OttoKit.

Prerequisites

  • A Zoom account with access to Zoom Tasks.
  • Admin access to your Zoom account.
  • An active OttoKit account.

Step 1: Create a General OAuth App on Zoom Marketplace

  1. Go to marketplace.zoom.us and log in with your Zoom admin account.
  2. Click Develop in the top nav, then select Build App.
  3. Select General App and click Create.
  4. Give your app a name (e.g. OttoKit Tasks) and click Create.
  5. Inside Basic Information > Select how the app is managed > Select Admin-managed

Step 2: Set Up the Redirect URI

  1. On the App Credentials page, copy your Client ID and Client Secret. You will need these when connecting in OttoKit.
  2. In the OAuth Redirect URL field, enter:
    https://api.ottokit.com/zoom_tasks/connection
  1. Add the same URL to the OAuth Allow List below the redirect field.

Step 3: Add the Required Scopes

In the left sidebar, click Scopes, then click Add Scopes. Add all six scopes below:

  • tasks:write:task
  • tasks:update:task:admin
  • tasks:write:assignees:admin
  • tasks:read:task:admin
  • tasks:delete:task:admin
  • tasks:read:list_tasks:admin

Note: All six scopes are required. If any scope does not appear in the search, make sure your app is set to Admin-managed in the app settings.

Step 4: Activate the App

Complete any remaining required fields in the app setup (such as the Information section), then click Activate your app. You do not need to publish it to the Zoom Marketplace.

Step 5: Connect Zoom Tasks in OttoKit

  1. Log in to OttoKit and go to Apps from the left sidebar.
  2. Search for Zoom Tasks and click on it.
  3. Click Connect, then Add New Connection.
  4. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret from Step 2.
  5. Click Authorize and log in with your Zoom admin account to approve the connection.
  6. Once approved, you will be redirected back to OttoKit with the connection active.
