How to Connect Spotify to OttoKit

This guide walks you through creating a Spotify Developer App and connecting it to OttoKit.

Step 1 — Create a Spotify Developer Account

1. Go to https://developer.spotify.com/dashboard
2. Log in with your Spotify account (free or premium, both work).
3. Accept the Developer Terms of Service if prompted.

Step 2 — Create a New App

1. Click “Create app” in the top-right corner.
2. Fill in the following details:

• App Name: Any name you like (e.g., OttoKit)
• App Description: A brief description of what you are using it for
• API / SDKs: Select Web API

For the Redirect URI, enter exactly:
https://api.ottokit.com/spotify_new/connection

3. Check the “I understand and agree” box and click “Save”.

Note: The Redirect URI must be entered exactly as shown above. Even a small typo will cause a connection error.

Step 3 — Copy Your Client ID and Secret

1. After saving, click “Settings” on your app page.
2. Copy the Client ID shown on the page.
3. Click “View client secret” to reveal it, then copy that too.

Note: Keep your Client Secret private. Do not share it publicly.

Step 4 — Connect to OttoKit

1. Log in to OttoKit and go to Apps or Integrations.
2. Search for “Spotify” and click Connect.
3. Enter your Client ID and Client Secret when prompted.
4. Click Authorize. You will be redirected to Spotify to approve the connection.
5. Once approved, you will be sent back to OttoKit and the connection will be active.
