How to Set up Webhooks in Jira

Jira Software is a powerful project management and issue-tracking tool designed for agile teams. Teams use Jira to streamline collaboration, enhance productivity, and deliver high-quality software efficiently.

In this article, we’ll understand how to set up webhooks in Jira to receive notifications on a webhook URL.

Setting Up Webhook in Jira

1. Login to your Jira account as a user with the Administer Jira global permission.

2. Click on the Settings gear icon located near the profile picture in the top-right corner of the bar.

3. Then, choose the System option from the Jira Admin Settings section.

4. Navigate to the left sidebar, and go to Advanced > WebHooks.

5. Click on the Create a Webhook button.

6. Provide the name to your webhook.

7. Make sure that Status is Enabled.

8. Copy the Webhook URL from the trigger flyout & paste it under the URL field.

9. Now, you can select one or more events from the available options based on your needs. For example, Issue Created, as shown in the screenshot.

That’s it! You have successfully added a webhook to your Jira account.
