Connect Google Search Console to OttoKit

This guide walks you through setting up a Google Cloud application and generating the Client ID and Client Secret required to connect Google Search Console to OttoKit. Follow each step in order, and you’ll be up and running in about 10 minutes.

Prerequisites

  • A Google account with access to Google Cloud Console
  • A verified property in Google Search Console
  • An active OttoKit account

Step 1: Create a Google Cloud Project

  1. Go to 

https://console.cloud.google.com and sign in with your Google account.

  1. Click the project dropdown at the top of the page and select New Project.
  2. Enter a project name (e.g., OttoKit – Search Console) and click Create.

  1. Confirm the new project is selected in the project dropdown before continuing.

Step 2: Enable the Google Search Console API

  1. In the left sidebar, go to APIs & Services › Library.
  2. Search for Google Search Console API, then click the result to open it.

  1. Click Enable to activate the API. If the button says Manage instead, the API is already active—you can move on.

Step 3: Configure the OAuth Consent Screen

  1. In the left sidebar, go to OAuth consent screen and click Get Started.
  2. Set the App name to OttoKit and enter your email in the support email field.
  3. Under Audience, select External. Enter your contact email, agree to the policy, then click Continue › Create.
  4. Click Create OAuth Client.
  5. In the sidebar, open Branding. Scroll down to Authorized domains, add ottokit.com, and click Save.

Step 4: Create OAuth Credentials

  1. In the sidebar, go to Clients and click + Create Client.
  2. Set Application type to Web application and give it a descriptive name.
  3. Under Authorized redirect URIs, click + Add URI and enter:

  1. Click Create.
  2. Open the client you just created and copy the Client ID and Client Secret. Save them somewhere safe—you’ll need both in the next step.

Step 5: Connect in OttoKit

  1. Log in to OttoKit and open any workflow.
  2. Add a Google Search Console action to the workflow.
  3. In the connection dropdown, click Create a connection.
  4. Paste the Client ID and Client Secret you saved in Step 4.
  5. Click Connect Google Search Console and sign in with your Google account.
  6. If you see a “This app isn’t verified” warning, click Advanced › Go to OttoKit to continue.
Tip: This warning appears because the app has not been submitted for Google verification. It’s safe to proceed for your own use.

Summary

You’ve successfully connected Google Search Console to OttoKit. Your workflow can now pull search performance data directly from Google Search Console. If your credentials expire or you revoke access, repeat Steps 4–5 to reconnect.
