Connect Lightspeed Retail to OttoKit – New

This guide walks you through creating a Lightspeed Retail developer account and obtaining the Client ID and Client Secret you need to connect your store to OttoKit.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have an active Lightspeed Retail store account and access to your OttoKit workspace, where you’ll set up the connection.

Step 1 – Register a Developer Account

Go to the Lightspeed developer portal and register a new account:

Important: This is a separate account from your Lightspeed Retail store login. You may need to use a different email address.

Step 2 – Create a New Application

Once signed in, you’ll see your Applications list. Click Create Application and fill in the following fields:

  • Name – choose any name (e.g., “OttoKit”)
  • Redirect URI – paste the following redirect URL from OttoKit

https://api.ottokit.com/lightspeed_retail/connection

  • Homepage URL – your website URL (only required if prompted)
  • Click Save. Your Client ID and Client Secret will appear on the next screen.

Step 3 – Copy Your Credentials

Copy both values and keep them safe:

  • Client ID – your app’s public identifier
  • Client Secret – keep this private; do not share it

Important: Copy the Client Secret immediately – it may only be displayed once.

Step 4 – Enter Credentials in OttoKit

Return to OttoKit and paste your Client ID and Client Secret into the connection settings. Click Connect to authorize your Lightspeed Retail account.

Summary

Once authorized, your Lightspeed Retail account is connected to OttoKit and ready to use. If you run into any issues, double-check that your Redirect URI matches the one shown above and that your Client Secret was copied correctly.
